I do not know about you, but for me, one of the hardest things to do is be PRESENT. Being present is to be in the present. Compelled to crush my goals, I often live in the future by over planning for my next success rather than enjoying and reflecting on what life is teaching me NOW. Others live in the past and allow the past to dictate how they feel right now. Regardless of where you are, it is necessary to make a conscious effort to pause and step back to allow yourself to be PRESENT in the moment to thank yourself for showing up for life each day. Seriously, I want you to STOP and literally thank yourself for showing up today. Show yourself some gratitude.
Being present is about being mindful of the moment you have NOW without overanalyzing the past or being too preoccupied with the future. It is acceptable to just BE. The literal definition of the word be means to exist. Allow yourself to truly exist without judgement from the past or anticipation of what may or may not happen in the future.
- Are you abiding in the present?
- Have you thanked yourself for showing up today?
Living in the past or directing too much energy towards the outcomes of the future can steal away today’s joy. Take a moment. Sit in silence. Eat with the tv off, the computer closed, the phone stowed away. What are you going to do TODAY to gift yourself the ability to live in the here and now?
