Kaneshia Hamilton Clifford, Founder of ReDefining Life LLC, Wife, Mother, Believer
I am a lover of personal growth and development. I spent most, if not all of my twenties, attempting to discover who I was, not having come to the realization that I did not have to discover who I was. Deep down, I already knew. I was well aware of what I wanted (to love, to serve others and to inspire people to do the same) but part of me was actually afraid to access the power that lie buried deep within me. It was much later that I recognized that I was creating the life that I had envisioned for myself all along and the journey continues to this day. My purpose now is to lay hold of what I ran away from for so long and fully embrace who I am.
I am a lover of God and people. I am a Wife. I am a Mother. I am a Leader.
I consider myself to be intelligent and analytical, yet I am also a visionary who has big dreams that many people would dare to call “unrealistic”. My life’s work has been a culmination of educating children, empowering others, and providing spiritual direction and guidance to those around me.
As an undergraduate at Berry College, I declared a major in Sociology and Anthropology. At the heart of my declaration and desire to study people within the context of society was a desire to serve in underprivileged communities and advocate for people. I did not want to merely study social problems but I wanted to be the change I want to see in the world.
The summer prior to my senior year of college, Urban Promise Ministries in Camden, New Jersey, provided me with the first real opportunity to serve within the context of a community. I spent a summer and half of an academic year immersed in the community of Camden. This experience further validated that I wanted to work with youth and impact those around me.
In the summer of 2007, I began my journey as a teacher when I officially enrolled in the New York City Teaching Fellows program. I then went on to complete my first Masters of Science in Teaching from Fordham University in 2009. The following fall, I enrolled in Union Theological Seminary and later earned a Masters in Divinity in the Spring of 2012. I am grateful for my academic journey and the people I met along the way.
At the heart of my vision for ReDefining Life LLC is the desire to empower others.
My hope is that this blog will touch, move, and inspire all that read it. My wish is that many people will come to the realization that they can create the life they want and help others to do the same.
